I've moved to my StatusNet Cloud site: http://dee.status.net/

@unltdlnxwalt I'm wildly surmising (based on how I'd feel if I was you) that situation might be difficult: torn between fatherly pride and competitive angst ;) Best of luck with your own site.
-
@123test123 You're that blues man! :) Of course I remember you, Mr K. And my guess (I don't know any of the details) is that the character limit probably only recognises numbers, not a word. So if you can give "unlimited" a number, it might work :) ...And if you can answer that one, how long does eternity last? ;) Nice to see you again. I hope you like the StatusNet sites. Mine is at dee.status.net
-
@123test123 Also (sorry, I should have put these all together) this unlimited.status.net site is different from the StatusNet Cloud sites. This is a community site; the limit was set before anybody signed up for an account here.
-
@123test123 Also, I think the StatusNet software you can host yourself might be different from the account you can open as a single-user in the StatusNet Cloud.
-
@123test123 Excuse me for asking, but why do you want to set a specific limit of unlimited? Why not just use a very long limit: 10,000 characters or something? Isn't that enough for anything you might want to import?

test @120new280@280.status.net #hello
-
test notice from Unlimited to !test300
-
Adding the blog post's link to the conversation thread (I hope): http://status.net/2010/02/15/identi-ca-character-limit-results @douglasawh

I successfully subbed to a WordPress.com blog using http://[example].wordpress.com/feed/atom (thanks to the idea from @lnxwalt300 http://300.status.net/notice/465 ). Then I tried to sub to the RSS version (by leaving the "/atom" off the URL) and got an error: "Sorry, we could not reach that address. Please make sure that the OStatus address is like nickname@example.com or http://example.net/nickname".
-
@lnxwalt300 I saw the blog post differently. The "Until then, we've set up StatusNet Cloud community sites..." I took to be saying "Here's something to do now instead of waiting around," not "Until then... which is when they'll stop."

#280.vs.unlimited - a Buzz update's whole text is actually *is* shown here at unlimited; at 280 it gets truncated and has an extension link. I can't link to the notices in my timelines; their timestamp links go to the Buzz page instead.
-
@lnxwalt300 Thanks! What makes you think these char-limit instances are temporary? Did someone say that? (Hardly anyone uses them now. I get the public timeline feeds of 280 to unlimited. The only significant activity has been one freak attack by spam.)
-
My notice 10 hours ago didn't go to either of the accounts it addressed. Trying again: @120new280@280.status.net and @120new@identi.ca
-
@lnxwalt300@300.status.net I'm assuming it's okay to test remote groups using !test300 but if not, please do say, thanks.
-
It would help if I could get my own address right... @120new280@280.status.net And now I may as well add @120new@identi.ca to see what happens there, too. Is this over 280 characters yet? I have no idea. Better throw in another sentence in case... And I counted this by copy/pasting to the 280 text box first, so it should be well and truly over 280 by now.
-
Now comparing 280 and unlimited, mostly to see whether subscriptions will import full text... Guess I may as well try this while I'm typing: an over-280 character notice to @120new@280.status.net And I just realised there's no character counter here. "Unlimited" doesn't *actually* mean unlimited, does it??
